Mind-body Syndrome

Mind-body syndrome (MBS) causes uncomfortable physical symptoms, ranging from dizziness and fatigue to intense and persistent pain. These symptoms usually result from unresolved stress from childhood, adulthood, or present circumstances. The brain generates pain or discomfort in the body to protect the person from what it considers worse: overwhelming and disturbing emotions.

For many, MBS can lead to a life of isolation and avoidance. People may withdraw from the world, limit movement, alter their diet, and lose touch with activities, relationships, and places that once brought them joy. Their world shrinks as managing symptoms becomes their primary focus.

Understanding how pain is processed in the brain and how it misfires signals of pain to protect us and addressing the underlying emotional issues can often alleviate the physical symptoms associated with MBS. Neuroplastic pain education, self-regulation techniques, somatic tracking, brain retraining techniques, internal family system therapy, and emotional awareness and expression therapy are practices used to help people heal from MBS.

Well-being coaching complements these healing practices by helping people shift their focus from uncomfortable physical symptoms to areas where they want to grow and succeed. When the brain perceives that we are no longer putting too much effort into managing symptoms and instead on things that give us joy, a sense of satisfaction, and achievement, it relaxes and stops firing unnecessary signals of pain.

If you have MBS and have already tried different healing approaches and need someone to help you regain confidence in returning to your desired activities or redesigning a new life, coaching might be the right approach for you. I will accompany you in the process of moving from where you are to where you want to be, despite any symptoms.

In our sessions, you’ll craft a clear vision for your future and set achievable goals aligned with your values, strengths, and talents. This process can empower you, making you feel in control and motivated. We won’t concentrate on curing or managing symptoms but on making it less of the center of your universe and proactively cultivating a fulfilling life centered around your resources,  passions and aspirations.

It's time to break free from the fear of pain and redirect your attention to what empowers you!
